Good Afternoon Ted and Sandra (SOA contact for matching gift),
The 48 Hours of Tri-State Charity Drive raised $13,885!!!
Ted,
On behalf of the American Cancer Society, I want to thank you for coordinating the Charity Drive and for your efforts in securing the matching gift from Subaru of America. For the third year in a row you and your fellow Subaru Owners have chosen to honor the American Cancer Society with an outstanding donation that continues to grow each year. This year, everyone's efforts resulted in a truly impressive grand total of $7,170, which includes a matching gift from Merrill Lynch.
The Subaru owners who participate in the 48 hours of Tri-State Charity Drive represent what is truly impressive about how much of a difference people can make when they take something they love to do and combine it with the passion to make a difference.
Sandra,
On behalf of the American Cancer Society I want to thank everyone who made the wonderful Subaru of America matching gift possible. We have received your check in the amount of $6,685.
The Charity Drive will support the American Cancer Society's efforts to eliminate cancer as a major health issue through research, education, advocacy and patient services.
For Everyone,
While the American Cancer Society is the largest non-profit, non-governmental funder of cancer research in the United States it is important for everyone to know that we provide free ‘round-the-clock information and support by phone (800-ACS(227)-2345) or computer (www.cancer.org) every day and night of the year.
While we teach people how to avoid preventable cancers, when to get early detection tests, what treatment options exist, and how to care for the cancer patient, we also provide services directly to cancer patients and their families such as transportation for cancer patients to their doctor’s appointments and treatments, support groups to help people cope with their illness, scholarships for young cancer survivors, summer camps and recreational outings for children with cancer, and organized opportunities for the public to join the fight against cancer.
Regardless of where donations come from, if someone could not afford to donate to ACS, the programs and services would still be there because ACS is committed on a local, state, and nationwide basis to eliminating cancer as a major health concern. Cancer knows no boundaries, so funds are put where the need is greatest: in your neighborhood or, perhaps in the lab of a researcher at Sloan Kettering, Yale or MIT who will unlock the mystery of cancer cell replication and save the life of your grandchild.
Bottom line: The more money we raise, the more likely we are to make breakthroughs in the fight against cancer; and that impacts everyone, everywhere.
Once again, thank you for taking your passion as Subaru Owners and turning it into action in the Fight Against Cancer.
Sincerely,
Linette
