 Droppin' Cards
« Thread Started on Mar 3, 2008, 1:46am »

I'm glad the 48hrs business cards were done without a year/date on them. I've been continuing to leave them on Subies that I see here and there. Last weekend, I left one on a blue STI at Oxford Valley Mall, and on a ForesterXT I saw outside of LL Bean in Marlton (I HAD to leave a card on this Forester - it had a NJ "Cancer Survivor" plate!). I've left a few more on WRXs and Foresters over the past few weeks.

Hopefully, some of these folks will drop by and see what its all about, and maybe help us out next year. Who do we talk to about getting more cards? Mike...?

We have literally thousands of cards. Let me know and we'll shoot you out a couple of hundred. :)

Yeah we purposely didn't put a year on em so they could be re-used.

Cool beans, Mike! Are you available on the weekend? I may be putting some new tires on the Fozzie Saturday and wouldn't mind scrubbing them in (motorcycle habits) on Sunday to drive up and pick up some more cards. If you're busy, just let me know and I'll PM my address for mailing. I can get some of them to other folks in the Philly area if anybody wants them.

We'll be up at the shop on sat. You're more than welcome to take a spin up and hang out. Sunday I may be there (live across the street) but I'm not 100% sure.

Whats the address of the shop again? I'll punch it into the GPS, and take a spin up there to show off my new tint. I think I'm gonna wait on tires for now, and see if I can find a set of WRX/STI 17" rims for cheap over the next few weeks, so Saturday is ok for me.

Btw, the guy who did my tint is a Subie fan (used to have a lowered '98 Fozzie, and is planning on getting an FXT soon), and said he'd help pass out cards if I can get him a stack. He also does vinyl graphics, so I may ask if he'd be interested in helping out with a group discount next year, if enough folks want a 48Hrs windshield banner like I had (only better). If he has a new Foz by then, he might even join us.

When I was telling him about the event, he had a great idea that we may be able to build on for next year's event: A mini auto-cross! He suggested we just set up in a parking lot and run it ourselves, but I think if we can get a local NASIOC or Subie group along our route to host it, that would totally rock. Having a separate group handle an event like that would allow the ride participants to concentrate on the drive, rather than setup and break-down of a full-day event. Some of the better donated items could be put towards the auto-x (the $500 shop work voucher that was given away this year would be a perfect prize for a local auto-x win). It would give the folks with cars set up strictly for on-road performance a chance to enjoy something as much as the rest of us enjoy the off-roading portion. It would give us auto-x noobs a taste of what its like. It would allow some folks with only one day available to help out in a huge way. And, it would bring in spectators, who would learn about the charity event and possibly donate (or buy stuff - like t-shirts or refreshments - with the profits going towards the charity). If a full-day event like this is too much to include in the 48 hrs drive, perhaps we could do it on a convenient weekend either before or after the 48hrs run. Just some thoughts. Maybe I should start another thread to gauge interest in this?

Too bad I didn't know you needed tint. Lee Berbs is probably the best tinter for Subies having done em since like '99 and he's across the lot from us.

I'll be around Sat as well so c'mon by, hang out and we'll hit an early dinner!

As for Auto-x biggest issue would be the insurance and rental fee of a parking lot. There is a lot to an Auto-x than just finding a lot to use :( Also since it's in the winter it's a PITA to run a winter Auto-x, but I like the brain-storming!

See yah saturday.

Addy is:

723 Fairfield Ave
Kenilworth, NJ 07033

Look for all the Subies, we are in the back on the right side of the lot.

If an auto-x is do-able, maybe we could try for Sept/Oct timeframe, as a way to publicize the fund-raising and the 48hrs drive in January. I guess I enjoyed the 48hrs drive so much, and love the idea of raising money for a charity while having fun, that I'm looking for ways to continue it all year long. I realize that its a big deal to organize even one event per year, so maybe if there is enough interest, other folks will step up to help with other events throughout the year, all for the same cause.

I'll be there Saturday, maybe around 2pm? I'm planning on going out Friday night, so I'll probably sleep-in on Saturday. I'll post some pics of the tint job when I get home tonight - it looks really sweet.

I had a good time hangin' out. I'll let you guys know when I want to get my brakes done. (I only have 5 weekends to get my motorcycle and the Forester ready for a week-long vacation.) Anyway, I have plenty of cards now, and I'll most likely need more before the next 48hrs.

Cool! The main site is updated with next year's dates, so I'll start getting those cards out to the local Subaru shops and my tint guy.

I gave out a few cards at the NASIOC meet in Atlantic City a few weeks ago. I think we've already had a few of those folks sign up on here.

Where are you? If you're within two hours of Philly, I can meet you halfway one day over the weekend and hand off some cards. If you only need a dozen or so, PM me an address and I'll mail you some.

Oh right, you guys have more. forcefed06wrx, where are ya? Whatever is more convenient, but I still have most of a box. Now that registration is open and the ACS page is up, I'm gonna try to hit up the local Subie dealerships to put some cards out, along with a flyer (I'll model the flyer after Mike's recent post on the other boards).
