I put out my first donation jar for this year's event yesterday. I was late in finding out about this event last year, so I only had the jar at Paddy's Pub for about two weeks last time, and it only generated $29, 20 of which was from one friend of mine, and I added another $21 to it to make a total donation of $50 from the jar last year; pretty pathetic, but it wasn't put out until after Christmas, and for a very short time.
This year, I got permission again to put the jar (same jar, btw) at Paddy's. I also needed to run a video test of the new camera and some mounts I picked up. So, I grabbed the jar, the new camera, and the mounts, and drove down to the bar yesterday afternoon. Today, I edited the little bit of video I captured into something for my YouTube page.
Please don't flame my video skills - this was a spur-of-the-moment thing, and really just a test of the mounts and the camera in the car. I later decided to edit it into something. If I was making this for a DVD, I would have taken the time to plot out all my shots, drove the route 4 times with the camera in different locations (I should just pick up another camera, they're so cheap), and spent all week editing it properly. This was just thrown together.
I'll be working on another short video later this month, to show off some editing skills, but I need to get the shots at the right time of day, which means shooting on the weekend, and only when it's gonna be sunny, so that video has to wait.
ANYway,..without further ado,...here is proof that I put out a donation jar:

P.S. Within an hour, the bartender Megan had already talked some of her daytime customers into contributing - there had to be at least $40 in there within an hour, so we're already doing better than last year.
