Hey, everyone. I'm putting together a Garmin file with all the waypoints (hotels, venues, eateries) for this year's trip. Not everything is finalized, like the final dinner in Harriman, NY, but I'll be updating it as things are finalized.
When it's done, I'll send it to any participants upon request. I'll also have it with me in my netbook during the trip, if anyone wants to get it the first morning or along the way.

Jeff...I'll take a copy of that JIC. I'm also working a map with the gas stops I'm planning to use for my group. If we do a comparison maybe we can work out where each group "should" stop so we can keep up the leap frog affect.

Since different groups will be stopping at different gas stations, I'll just add waypoints for those towns, just in case folks get separated from the group they know generally where to catch up. Since there will be multiple groups and each ride leader will pick their own route, so I won't put any routes on there, but let me know where you plan to stop along the way and I can add those waypoints.
I'm also including the listed phone number and a hyperlink for each of the waypoints, where applicable. That way, if folks need to call a hotel, it's right there on the GPS (especially handy if they are using bluetooth through the GPS).

Yeah, on the site I only have the major stops, I haven't gotten it refined down to stops along the way or which backroads will be taken.

I definitely don't want to get into specific routes, for more than one reason. I know ride leaders kind of go with the flow, weather is unpredictable, and posting specific routes to a public site kind of invites unscrupulous LEOs to lay their speed traps along the way.
I'll keep it to the points listed on the main site, and any gas stop ideas the ride leaders put forth. I'll also add some suggested eateries in places like Buffalo, where folks will be on their own, although most modern GPSes will have search functions for food and whatnot.

Nice idea Jeff. I know I'll take a copy (it'll save me the work of trying to add the "waypoints" :-)

Just fyi for anyone with a GPS you can upload POI to. Check out www.poi-factory.com/ . They have files for Red light cameras, speed traps, as well as DD, fuel stops etc. It's come in handy for me in the past. Mark R
