Wanted to start a thread for anyone to post in as a reminder of what they would have liked to change about their ride based on the 08 trip. Any of those nit picky things that really bothered you and your solution. Might help others who had issues and didn't really think too much about them. Or post issues you had and someone might be able to give you an idea of what to do about it.
My issue: Get different snow tires, the Blizzaks rock by all means but the 225 section width is alittle too much when trying to cut thru slush along with the low speed rating that makes handling an issue. I'm thinking along the lines of a 215 maybe Dunlop M3 or the like.

Cruise Control - I should have tried harder to get that installed. F
I honestly did not think I would use it this year because in the past when I was temp.-driving for someone I never did. However during our longer highway roads it would have been VERY nice to have. Especially if you lack a co-driver or in my case he broke/sprained his ankle 3 days before the drive.

I think my primary concern for next year will be to get another set of rims (even just a set of steelies from a junk yard) and mount real snow tires. The Geos held up fine, but with snow tires I might have given that seasonal road a try. And, of course, the weather could be much worse than it was this year.
Anything else I could think of would just be overkill for the rest of the year: skid plate, differential cover, brush guard and extra lighting.

Yeah snow tires could be real important, we've seen times where we had feet of snow for hours and hours on the Thruway.

Ian, you were not the only one wishing for CC. Frank was saying the same thing on the ride back from Newburg.

my car....
not a fan of driving the STI, i dont really have any experience in it in the snow. every other car i had in snow tried to rotate thru a turn, the STI just kept trying to stay straight and i never knew if it was going to kick out or not.
next time i'll take my own car again.

Oh, and I'll pick up a higher-res digital camera before the next event, too. I broke my 5mp camera a long time ago, and only had my old 2.1mp on this trip. I really like one of the pics I took (my Fozzie at the scenic overlook) but its kind of low-res to make a decent large print.

Make sure you have a backup card too. Right after Cooperstown my card on my 8.1mp camera packed it in.
